Lee Zong Sheng, more photos here.

To those who said it’s hard to recognise me or could hardly see me etc, my reply is: It’s like that one LAH! Tsk tsk.

Anyway, before the show, I made up my mind to enjoy the show no matter what, because I was just waiting for one moment….

For Jonathan Lee Zong Sheng to come on the stage.

People who have heard me gushing about him must have thought I’m mad.

Yes I am. Huhuhuh. Madly in love with his talent.

I am in awe of him, because I don’t think there’s anyone else who
can write such tiny emotions from the perspective of women, when he is
a man himself.

I think men who can express themselves well are really very charming.

But of course, it’s a fine line between expressing well, and manipulating it.

Hectic Day

Yesterday was really hectic! I haven’t been sleeping well this whole
month, it’s bad! I’m starting the trend of having dark eyebags as
makeup accessories I think.

But it was flattering to go to RSI
for an interview with Jianbing, and all thanks to Gabriel who helped me
carry the really heavy keyboard for I think 100m, all so I could sing 2
songs live lol. I think it will be aired on Sat and next Wed, if I
don’t remember wrongly. Will post the actual air-time soon.

Then I had to rush to meet gf#1 and gf#2 to prepare a surprise
wedding gift for gf#3. As usual, we were laughing like crazy women in
Mos Burger. We have decided we really shouldn’t go to quiet venues cos
we’ll just be noise pollutants.

After that, I had to rush to 1003fm again but this time round to
meet Kening for a radio interview. I was really looking forward to this
interview, because I know that Kening’s programme has a good following
of music-lovers. So yes, I think it went well, we talked on production
of a DIY album in Singapore and also my music preferences. She even
asked me to sing ‘C’est Si Bon’ impromptu! Luckily I could remember the
lyrics off-hand, phew! Do tune in if you’re free this Sun 10pm - 12am.

But, this Sun I’ll be on Spop Finals. Honestly I’m not sure if I
really want to go..it’s really flattering to be invited, but… I guess…a
big part of me (the musician part) does not want to appear on TV, but
another part of me (the managerial part) says I must go –> how else
could I sell more cds? It’d be a good avenue for more people to know
me, right?. Tsk tsk. (

Hmm. Honestly, I prefer people to know me through my music and
performances. Like on 1003fm every Tue. That’s why I don’t do MTV video
lah..music is music…Video killed the radio star haha.  )

So you think…Water or Cloud?

If life can be as easy as the simple reflection by water…

I went to MacRitchie Reservoir with Juliet, Hayley, and my parents
and Hayley’s parents on 9 Mar morning. First time I step foot there
again after the dreaded annual run during my RVHS days. I could hardly
recognise the place because we always ran around the place then.

The interior is so beautiful )

We had such a silly time walking around, taking pictures, talking rot, shouting to strangers (erm Juliet only) *cringe* lol.

C’est la vie que j’aime. (”,)

Wedding-Singing

The wedding-singing for yesterday was a tat stressful because Ken
from 1003fm decided to tag along and record the whole performance down
so that he could air it over the radio for next Tue (11 Mar 08, 11pm - 12am).
The couple Myra and Vernon have graciously given their consent, and
voila! The recorded audio clips turned out to be reaaallly clear (yes
yes all thanks to Ken’s powerful recorder, only lousy thing is the
battery pack lol).

Immediately after the show we rushed back to studio to do some
tidying of the clips cos Ken is off for holiday today (grr, some lucky
guy). I happened to meet Ah Wei & Ah Dong who host UrbanNite every
Sat evening, and Ke Ning, who hosts 7-11 on Sunday evenings. If all
things go well, I’ll be going on their programmes soon. )

Anyway, Ah Ken who has not been to weddings (enough) was rather
touched by Myra and Vernon’s wedding. I have to say it was an
extraordinary wedding because Vernon decided to surprise Myra by
singing “Can’t help falling in love”, and there was even a dance floor
where guests could shake their booties to our cha-cha and rock &
roll numbers.

I know I know I know. I’m lucky to be witnessing the joyous
occasions that people experience once in their lifetime (at least for
most).

Do tune in on 11 Mar 08 11pm - 12am if you’re free. The band is actually from A Little Dream,
a wedding-singing group that I co-found. Hsin yeow on male vocal,
Jonathan Ang on keyboard, Boon Chye on saxophone, and myself on female
vocal. )

Column @ My Paper

Esther of My Paper has kindly invited me to write a column for My Paper. When I first knew about it, I was totally blown away.

Me? Write a column for a paper?

Luckily I was told I could write about anything, as long as there’s
a point with experiences to support it. And so I did write! About
popular responses I get when I tell people I do music full-time.

Ken reminded me time and again to listen in on Fri 29 Feb 08, 4pm.
Again, he refused to tell me for what. I saw the review on My Paper
that morning, and thought, maybe it has something to do with the review.

When I tuned in, I realised it’s U Shi Liu Xing Bang.  Yes, my first reflex - gapping my mouth, and thinking in my head “You’ve got to be kidding me Ah Ken”.

And so, the 2nd gift of 29 Feb 08, is that ”When I’m 80″ got onto the pop chart of 1003, and it’s new on the chart, number 20.

I am truly comforted, because apparently media does play a part in the voting. I’m like “Oh???”

“Wow!!!”

“Wah…”

Getting reviews was what I planned to do to reach out to more
music-lovers. But to squeeze into a pop chart, not even in my dreams.

To share an extract from Momo by Michael Ende:

‘You see, Momo,’ he told her one day, ‘it’s like this. Sometimes,
when you’ve a very long street ahead of you, you think how terribly
long it is and feel sure you’ll never get it swept.’

He gazed silently into space before continuing. ‘And then you start
to hurry,’ he went on. ‘You work faster and faster, and every time you
look up there seems to be just as much left to sweep as before, and you
try even harder, and you panic, and in the end you’re out of breath and
have to stop - and still the same street stretches away in front of
you. That’s not the way to do it.’

He pondered for a while. Then he said, ‘You must never think of the
whole street at once, understand?’ You must only concentrate on the
next step, the next breath, the next stroke of the broom, and the next,
and the next. Nothing else.’

Again he paused for thought before adding, ‘That way you enjoy your
work, which is important, because then you make a good job of it. And
that’s how it ought to be.’

There was another long silence. At last he went on, ‘And all at
once, before you know it, you find you’ve swept the whole street clean,
bit by bit. What’s more, you aren’t out of breath.’ He nodded to
himself. ‘That’s important, too,’ he concluded.

Review on My Paper!

Ken told me on Tue to grab a copy of Wo Bao (My Paper) this Friday, and I was like “Huh? Why?”. Then this funny guy refused to tell me why.

Now I know why! Fwah!

Hsin Yeow commented that this review/critique is really a sincere
one because it talks about the album song-by-song (There aren’t many
songs anyway, so he could do that if he wants to).

It’s really great to be able to reach out to more people through this print media. 29 Feb, what a great day to remember. Hayley said 4 years down the road I can remember this day again lol.

More bomb prata for Ken! :p
Cos I really don’t know how else I can express my gratitude. What goes around comes around. I will definitely pass it forward. D
