Weddings
End of year is the time when people are more likely to get married,
because the auspicious dates for the following year are published only
at the start of that year. Well, so it doesn’t leave you with much time
huh.
Steven & Lindy @ Peony Jade (04 Oct):
- I had a great time singing Wo Yao Ni De Ai !
Alison & Marc @ Oriental Hotel (05 Oct):
- German marries Singaporean girl. Apparently, a German tradition
includes getting the couple to cut a huge heart-shape out of a white
bedsheet, and the couple has to walk through the hole, with the groom
carrying the bride in his arms! It was hilarious to see it on the spot!
Lisa & Thomas @ Fullerton Hotel (06 Oct):
- Enough said about this cute couple!
Randy & Elaine @ Raffles Town Club (08 Oct):
- How you can really marry the person of your dreams by asking her out for coffee, as depicted in ‘I Finally Found Someone’
Alvern & Sulianti @ Fullerton Hotel (14 Oct) :
- Love Que Sera Sera which they have requested for me to sing!
Berndy & Steve @ Hyatt Hotel (19 Oct):
- I love the rendition of And The Angels Sing by Jane Siedel. It combines English and French lyrics; just the mix I like.
Ronnie & Ryoko @ Grand Copthorne Waterfront (20 Oct):
- My nervous rendition of the Japanese song Eien ni tomo ni turned out alright!
May & Patrick @ Conrad (27 Oct):
- I got a kick out of singing ‘In Love With You‘
by Jacky Cheung & Regine; it reminded me too well of my secondary
school days when I took part in a Talentine competition with another
classmate!
Chong Ping & Seow Ling @ Pan Pacific (27 Oct):
- I got to perform ‘La Vie En Rose’ as the version in my EP album.
Really flattered that the couple likes what they heard from the website.
Adrian & Joan @ Fullerton Hotel (30 Oct):
- A wedding which touches me because of the surprises the couple has in store for each other..
Other Random events include:
Wedding Fair @ Marina Square

Ok, so finally the artwork’s done and I sent it to Infodisc for CD
print and press etc. Honestly even though I do think I’m perhaps
average or slightly above average with regards to computer knowledge,
trying to input title tracks and artiste name and insert artwork into
my master CD was arduous. I rtfm and managed to do it using Window
Media Player v10, but when tried on other PCs, it didn’t work. Anyway,
I’m glad Infodisc is helpful enough to agree to do it for me :p
Another challenge is to proof-read the artwork album over and over and over and over zzzzz again. I am a broad-based person; to do detail things like that made me want to pull my hair out.
Due to some software version problem, I had to run down two separate times to get this job done. So, now I can sit back relax and start thinking about other challenges.
I really have to give thanks to Edgar, my album artwork designer,
over and over again because I troubled him more times than I should for
some nitty-gritty stuff (Yes I am a control freak sometimes).
I really have to thank him for his patience and kindness. In contrast,
I’ve learnt that my inpatience is really something I need to work at -
I tried to convince myself a little oddball is ok cos I’m in the
creative business but deep down inside I know it’s BS.
Print job will be done in 1.5 - 2 weeks’ time. Can’t wait.

I had a smashing time preparing for this song. A preview of the second half of the song can be heard here
I sang this version at a wedding upon the request of the couple just 2 evenings ago!

I’ve finally sat down to create a Wordpress blog @ www.bevlynkhoo.com/blog.
And, a cut-and-paste preview to one of the songs in my EP, ‘When I’m 80′ here.
I’ll find time to blog about my thoughts about each song later on. Now is CD-printing time!

Just to account to all who’s been watching this space:
Sorry
for the delay in posting. I was working myself to the bones these few
weeks! This is what happens when you fork out so much monnaie to do a
DIY
Latest news is, 3 major distributors have turned me down mainly because:
a) “it would be in your best interest that we decline your offer to distribute”
b) “…of
all the high profile releases scheduled all the way till Q1 2008, I
regret to inform you that we will give this opportunity a miss”
“we don’t do local artistes..only artistes licenced from abroad..”
And
I don’t blame them, I just thought I should not leave any stones
unturned, that’s all. But the waiting part is trying. Imagine the
product’s ready but sitting there.
During
this waiting period, it became clearer to me that it is not necessary
to get a distributor. First of all, I financially it does me better,
and perhaps I can get more control. So, I contacted Sembawang Music
directly. And good news is, they’ve agreed to sell my albums! The
person-in-charge was super efficient, and have already asked me to send
the ‘goods’ to the HQ. And I haven’t printed them yet! Will send for
printing once I tie up the loose ends for the artwork (i.e. no more
‘Distributed by XXX’).
I love this song, totally describe how I’m enjoying the moment these days.

Calling for a little patience

It’s coming to a month, but everything seems to be in a ‘matrix’ mode. It is hard to approach distributors to consider distributing my cds mainly because I’m unknown. Yes I totally understand. But it is still quite demoralising, if not for the encouragement from friends around. So maybe I really have to consider distributing it all by myself (and my lovely friends of course).
Artwork will be finalised by today! It’s great to have Edgar’s help. He’s so patient and accommodating despite his already busy schedule (suddenly feel like writing a testimonial for him haha). I totally dig the layout and of course the photos taken by Eugene Goh.
It’s definitely a trying period for me now, with the struggle between weddings and work and trying to do up this album. I had hoped to release it earlier but looks like it might well go into Nov or who knows, even Dec. I suppose a good dose of struggle is good so I can feel the satisfaction stronger at the end of it (no, I’m not emo).
I’ve come this far, I can only look forward. On verra!
